Korea Power Adapter Safety Certificate Introduction-KC

In order to enable consumers to have a clearer understanding of the certification marks on the purchased Korean power adapters, as well as to reduce the various certification costs burdened by power adapter manufacturers, in July 2009, the Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) began to implement and adopt The national unified KC mark, called the “KC Mark” mark, the new mark represents Korea Certification, and the current 13 mandatory marks for power adapters in Korea will also be finally unified under this mark, one of the results is to reduce the number of power adapter suppliers In terms of certification costs, the use of South Korea’s KCMark has gradually become an industry brand certification.
According to the “Korea Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Management Law”, since January 1, 2009, the electrical power adapter safety certification is divided into electrical appliance safety certification and self-discipline safety confirmation certification.

KC logo

1) The size of the label can be adjusted with the size of the power adapter

2) The label should be wear-resistant and should be printed on the conspicuous place of the power adapter. If the power adapter is too small, it can be printed on the outer packaging.

The necessity of KC certification

KC is a mandatory certification for Korean power adapters. Domestic or foreign manufacturers must obtain Korean safety certification before exporting electronic power adapters to South Korea.

KC Mark Certification ProductsList (KC Certification Power Adapter Directory) According to the “Korea Electrical Appliances Safety Management Law”, since January 1, 2009, the electrical power adapter safety certification is divided into two types: compulsory certification and self-discipline (voluntary) certification.

Compulsory certification means that all electronic power adapters belonging to the mandatory power adapter must obtain KCMark certification before they can be sold in the Korean market. They need to undergo factory inspection and power adapter sampling tests every year.

Self-regulatory (voluntary) certification means that all electronic power adapters belonging to voluntary power adapters only need to be tested to obtain a certificate, and do not need to be subject to factory inspection. The certificate is valid for 5 years.

Electrical supplies that need to be KC certified

Basically, the input voltage range of electrical supplies is an electrical power adapter with an AC voltage of more than 50 volts to less than 1000 volts. In addition to the power adapter that must be certified for safety, it is necessary to apply for self-discipline safety confirmation.
